VENTFALL
Return to Sender
He fell for her. From a great height.
Free, right in your browser, nothing to install. The first load is a couple of hundred megabytes, so give it a minute or two. You need a keyboard or a gamepad: phones are not supported yet. It runs best in a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer. Your progress is saved in this browser.
What it is
Bo is a lanky tower mechanic, exactly as confident as he should not be. He is tightening a valve on Balcony 77 when he looks up at a girl on a white Whitecrest terrace, steps in his own oil, and down he goes.
Between floors there are about thirteen seconds of free fall. You cannot crash: steer, grab bolts, ammo and food. Spread out to fall slower and catch more, tuck to get it over with. The first vent that pulls sucks Bo into the tower.
Inside are the floors: rooms full of service roaches, rat foremen and extremely polite drones. Bo has his wrench, any guns he finds, and gadgets made of junk, from an umbrella to a rocket thermos. Doors stay shut while anything in the room still moves, and the cleaning crew is right behind you: reach the hatch before you get flushed.
And then there is the mail. The tower's vents are old pneumatic-mail pipes, and on every floor a capsule drops in with a letter from above. Whoever writes them believes they are ordering spare parts from a depot. Bo answers in pencil on the back of a work order. How it ends is for you to find out.

— from a letter from above
What is inside
Five floors
Cloud Laundry, the Roach Quarter, the Neon Bazaar, the Sump and the resort called the Glow. Below that, only the ground.
A wrench, guns and junk
Bolt Blunderbuss, Rivet Gun, Steam Cannon, and gadgets: Junk Umbrella, Grapple Plunger, Kettle Jet, Cardboard Wings.
Bars
THE DREGS, The Low Note and the Half-Life Lounge: food, repairs, upgrades, and a jukebox you had better not kick a third time.
The workbench
Ten inventions from whatever is in your pockets: a Helicopter Brolly, Trampoline Trousers, a Narcissus Engine.
Letters
One letter from above per floor, three ways to reply, and the next letter remembers what you wrote. A courier pigeon brings other people's mail in mid-air.
Russian and English
All text and all voices in both languages. The game starts in the language of this page.
